David A. Durkee, MS-PAS, PA-C, RRT-NPS, RPSGT

PA Durkee is a nationally board-certified physician assistant. He earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Westfield State University (nestled in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts) in the class of 2020. After attending a PA Fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Missouri, he relocated to his native Colorado to join the Colorado Sleep Institute in late 2021.

PA Durkee began his career as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) upon graduating with honors from Pima Medical Institute – Denver in 2005. In addition to employment as an RRT at National Jewish Medical and Research Center and other Denver-area hospitals, he worked for nearly a decade at Children’s Hospital Colorado Sleep Center as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT). There he was heavily involved in sleep research, including the acquisition of studies on the cerebral impacts of untreated sleep apnea and the effects of high altitude on pediatric sleep.

PA Durkee has now devoted his career exclusively to Sleep Medicine. He is especially interested in the psychological aspects of sleep disorders as well as their pulmonary implications in chronic disease.

Outside of work, PA Durkee enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and spelunking with his wife and 4 kids (ages 1 to 17). He is also a lighthouse enthusiast, an avid Geocacher, and amateur 16mm film hobbyist.
